AI document processing, also called intelligent document processing (IDP), is the use of OCR, language processing and machine learning to extract, classify and process information from documents automatically. Unlike simple text recognition, it understands layout, context and meaning – for example amounts, deadlines or contract clauses.

Automatic extraction, intelligent classification, seamless integration
The system extracts key data from documents: invoice numbers, amounts, dates, contract clauses and contact details. Layout analysis understands the document structure and recognises relevant fields even in unfamiliar formats.
The system automatically recognises the document type – invoice, contract, reminder, order, expert report – and routes each document to the right workflow. Multi-label classification handles documents that cover several categories.
Text recognition even for difficult originals: handwritten notes, poor scans, stamped documents and multilingual text. Layout-aware OCR with PaddleOCR and LayoutLM preserves the document structure, so tables, forms and paragraphs are reconstructed correctly.
Extracted data is automatically checked for plausibility: does the VAT match the net amount? Is the invoice date within a valid range? Faulty documents are flagged for manual review.
After processing, extracted data flows automatically into your downstream processes: invoice posting in SAP, contract filing in the DMS, reply emails for enquiries. Human-in-the-loop handling for exceptions ensures accuracy.
GoBD-compliant digital archiving with full-text search, versioning and retention periods. Every processed document is stored in an audit-proof way with a timestamp, processing log and classification result.
