Frequently asked questions about custom software
(01)What does it cost to have custom software developed?
Costs depend on the scope of features, integrations, data situation and quality requirements. That is why we don't quote flat rates but clarify the scope in a short scoping: fixed price after scoping, proposal within 48 hours. If you want to sharpen your requirements first, start with a fixed-price workshop, for example the Prototyping Sprint for €4,500.
(02)How long does custom software development take?
The duration depends on the project scope. Typically, simple tools and MVPs take about 4 weeks, business applications 6–8 weeks and enterprise platforms 8–12 weeks. Our AI-assisted development process keeps schedules short, and weekly demos show you at any time where the project stands.
(03)When is custom software better than off-the-shelf solutions?
Custom software pays off when standard solutions cannot map your core processes, when you work with workarounds and spreadsheet add-ons, when licence costs for barely used standard software keep rising, or when you want to create a competitive edge with AI functions that standard products don't offer. In the first call we honestly check whether a standard solution might be enough after all.
(04)Do I get the complete source code?
Yes. You receive the complete source code, documentation, deployment scripts and architecture documents, as well as the exclusive rights of use under clause 5 of our terms. There is no vendor lock-in: you can continue with another team at any time or develop the software further in-house without starting from scratch.
(05)Which technologies do you use?
Frontend: Next.js, React and TypeScript for high-performance web applications. Backend: Python and Node.js with Convex or PostgreSQL as the database. AI: Claude, GPT, LangGraph and custom ML models. Deployment: AWS and Vercel with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring. We choose the technology to suit the project, not the other way round.
(06)How do you ensure GDPR compliance?
GDPR compliance is a fixed part of our architecture: European hosting, encryption of all data at rest and in transit, privacy by design and configurable deletion periods. For regulated industries we additionally implement GoBD-compliant logging, audit trails and role-based access control, and document all data flows in a traceable way.
(07)Can the software be extended later?
Yes. We plan for extensibility from the start: modular architecture, clean API interfaces and automated tests. New features, integrations and user groups can be added later without destabilising the existing software. The documentation ensures that other teams can take over further development as well.
(08)How does the collaboration work?
We start with a free 30-minute initial call and a discovery phase of about one week. This is followed by architecture design with wireframes and prototypes, then agile development with weekly demos and feedback loops. You have access to the code repository at all times and a direct line to founder Michael Kerkhoff, who steers the project centrally and brings in experienced specialists as needed.
(09)Do you integrate AI into every custom software project?
When it makes sense, yes. We work AI-natively and check in every project where intelligent functions create real value: automated data processing, chatbots, predictive analytics or content generation. AI is only integrated when it brings concrete benefits and is otherwise deliberately left out.
(10)Do you also offer maintenance and further development?
Yes. We fix defects free of charge for 30 days from final delivery. For ongoing operations and further development we agree individually on what you need: updates, security patches, performance optimisation or new features. That way your software stays secure and grows with your requirements.
