# Hire an AI Developer: LLM & ML Engineers | Context Studios

An AI developer builds software in which language models, data and existing systems work together reliably – from prototype to operations. At Context Studios, an AI-native development studio in Berlin, you work directly with founder Michael Kerkhoff, who is responsible for architecture and implementation and uses AI-assisted tools to deliver faster.

Context Studios solves business problems with the right technology – from concept and implementation to operations. Instead of placing staff, we take responsibility for a clearly defined result: architecture, code, tests and documentation. We are happy to work with your team, in your tools and according to your processes.

AI developers are software engineers who work at the intersection of machine learning, language models and classic software engineering. Unlike pure data scientists, they bring expertise in software architecture, API design, testing and deployment – the prerequisite for AI systems that run reliably in day-to-day operations.

Entity: AI Developer

Specialisation: LLM applications, RAG systems, AI agents, integrations, MLOps

Core skills: TypeScript, Python, Next.js, Convex, FastAPI, Docker

Way of working: Founder-led, AI-assisted development, weekly demos

Collaboration: Remote or on site in Berlin, in your tools and processes

Availability: Project start by arrangement, usually within a few weeks

Compliance know-how: GDPR, EU AI Act, industry-specific regulation

## Which skills do we bring?

Six areas in which we move your AI project forward.

### Machine learning engineering

From data preparation and model selection to evaluation: we choose the right approach for your use case and optimise quality, accuracy and response time – with measurable test cases instead of gut feeling.

### Production-ready software

Clean, testable and maintainable code following proven software engineering practices. We do not deliver notebooks but robust production systems with APIs, error handling, logging and automated tests.

### LLM integration and prompt engineering

Experience with the major model families – Claude, GPT, Gemini, Mistral and open-source models. We implement RAG systems, AI assistants and agentic workflows with well-designed prompts and efficient token usage.

### Data architecture and pipelines

Design and implementation of data pipelines that turn raw data into usable knowledge – with quality checks and efficient storage in relational and vector databases.

### Cloud-native deployment

Containerised services, serverless endpoints and automatic scaling on Vercel, AWS, GCP or Azure. Your AI applications run reliably, cost-efficiently and with low latency.

### MLOps and CI/CD

Automated pipelines with versioning, evaluations and monitoring. Reproducible workflows and the detection of quality drift are standard for us.

## How do we work on your project?

### Consultation

Free 30-minute initial call via video. We understand your project, clarify the technical framework and give you a first assessment of feasibility and timeline.

### Proposal & planning

You receive a written proposal with scope, timeline and fixed price.

### AI-accelerated development

Agile development with weekly demos. Goal: a working MVP in about 4 weeks, with production-ready code and automated tests.

### Launch & support

Production deployment with complete documentation, handover to your team and 30 days of free bug fixing from final delivery. Further development by agreement.

## Frequently asked questions about working together

Q: Who develops your project at Context Studios?

A: Context Studios is founder-led. You work directly with founder Michael Kerkhoff, who is responsible for architecture, implementation and quality. AI-assisted development tools take over routine work such as boilerplate code and draft tests, but every result is reviewed, tested and documented. This combines short communication paths and a single point of contact with a high pace of delivery.

Q: How quickly can your project start?

A: After the initial call and approval of the proposal, we usually start within a few weeks. For urgent requirements, an earlier start is possible by arrangement. We discuss availability openly in the first call so that you can plan realistically. A fixed-price workshop can usually be scheduled at shorter notice than a complete development project.

Q: Do you work remotely or on site?

A: Both are possible. Development mainly takes place remotely with modern collaboration tools, regular video calls and weekly demos. For workshops, planning sessions or acceptance, we also come on site, for example in Berlin. Many clients combine both: joint in-person sessions at the start, followed by well-established remote collaboration.

Q: What does working with Context Studios cost?

A: We do not work with timesheets but with clearly defined results. After the initial call, we analyse scope, integrations and risks and prepare a written proposal: fixed price after scoping, proposal within 48 hours. Fixed-price workshops are a good way to start, for example a Strategy Day for €2,500 or a two-day Prototyping Sprint for €4,500.

Q: Can we also carry out larger projects with you?

A: Yes. We break larger projects down into clearly defined stages, each with its own result and acceptance. AI-assisted development makes it possible to deliver a lot of scope efficiently. Where it makes sense, we work closely with your internal team, take on the architecture and critical components and make sure your team can continue running the system afterwards.

Q: How do you work with our existing team?

A: We work in your tools such as Jira, Confluence, Slack or GitHub, following your processes and coding standards. After a short onboarding, we join the relevant meetings and align architecture decisions transparently. Code reviews in both directions ensure that your team understands the system from the start and can help shape it.

Q: What is the difference between AI developers and data scientists?

A: Data scientists focus on data analysis, statistical modelling and hypothesis testing. AI developers also bring software engineering skills: API design, deployment, monitoring, testing and system architecture. They build production-ready systems instead of proof-of-concept notebooks. For most business projects with language models, it is exactly this combination that makes the difference.

Q: How do you ensure the quality of the work?

A: Through fixed quality mechanisms: automated tests at several levels, evaluations of AI responses against defined test cases, CI/CD pipelines and regular architecture reviews. AI-generated code is reviewed like any other code before it reaches the main branch. In weekly demos you see the actual status and can give feedback early.

Q: Can you also work with legacy systems?

A: Yes. Many AI projects essentially consist of integration into existing systems. We have experience with heterogeneous architectures, older APIs and complex data migrations. A lean intermediate layer is often the most pragmatic way to add modern AI functions without having to rebuild the existing system or putting ongoing operations at risk.

Q: What happens after the project ends?

A: The project ends with a structured knowledge transfer: documentation, handover sessions and access to all repositories, so your team can run the system independently. You receive the exclusive rights of use under clause 5 of our terms and conditions. From final delivery we fix bugs free of charge for 30 days; further development can be agreed as needed, without artificial lock-in clauses.

Q: How quickly can an AI developer start on my project?

A: After the free initial call and a short concept phase of about one week, development can usually begin right away. Goal: a first MVP in about 4 weeks.

Q: Who holds the rights to the code?

A: You receive the rights of use to the code under section 5 of our terms, including source code and documentation.

Q: Is the development GDPR-compliant?

A: Yes. As a German company we build GDPR-compliant by default. On request we implement fully private AI systems where your data never leaves your servers.
